Aleyeska Weyr
Weyr History
Rules
Nestled high up in the mountains on the border between Lemos and Bitra is a new Weyr by the name of Aleyeska. Started under Weyrwoman Auryn of gold Ahrianth and R’ton of bronze Rodonth, Aleyeska Weyr was to carry a new hope. The riders were driven out of their home Weyr in the southern continent less than a turn ago when a terrible flood left it uninhabitable. The move took a toll on all there, with many of the inhabitants losing close possessions or even their partners. It was a terrible disaster, one that none had deserved, but the weyrfolk came together and pulled through. With hard work and determination, they created a new home for themselves, a home in Aleyeska.
TELGAR'S DASTARDLY PLAN
Not even a full season had gone by that Aleyeska had been left alone in peace. Their orignal charter written up that they would be fully autonomous. Having their hold right underneath their Weyr and the fields down below providing more than enough space to have all the food they would need to survive. It came about that on a lazy spring day a rider from Telgar came to deliver a message. In short it read shut down, or be forced to shut down.
Weyrwoman Auryn and Weyrsteward R'ton thought quickly about going to Benden for aid, and to Fort. If they could prove their complete autonomy by next Spring, they would bargain to be left alone. If they needed to go for aid from anyone then they would agree to shut down. So far though they were more than capable of caring from themselves. The summer treated them extremely well and the crops flurished down below the Weyr, turning the valley deep lushious greens and as fall approached, brilliant golds.
Even though the water in the lake ended up being poisonous for human, or dragon consumption, the toxin was not large enough to take out the sturdy high altitude plants, or the herdbeast that had been bred in the south and were much more used to a variety of things in their meal.
With the coming of winter came the cleansing of the lake, and when the ice melted in the spring, the water was once again safe. Dragons and riders alike joined to celebrate the occasion, and a hatching followed not long after. With new weyrlings and clean water, Telgar seemed to have failed in their attempts to shut Aleyeska down. It looked like the looming threat of Telgar was once again set off at bay.... at least for now...
UPCOMING EVENTS
For those of you out there who adore the night loving, light phobic, small winged creatures that we so lovingly call Wher's I am pleased to announce that we now have a gold wher and handler here at Aleyeska Weyr. With the return of our members and the boards starting to be active again we will be able to launch our very first Wher Run! As with the dragon hatching it will be announced on the day that the Gold Wher is caught.
There is a gather planned for the near future! Get ready for fun and socialization! What better time to join in?
Aleyeska Weyr is currently very small, but incredibly tight-knit and looking to fill out our numbers. Are you a Pern fan looking for a friendly place to RP with other awesome fans? Come take a look!
