"No way..."
Zack looked around him in disbelief. This place....he shouldn't be here. Maybe he was dreaming before he left this world. He can remember everything before his 'final moments': Shin-Ra was coming closer to both Cloud and Zack, as they were fugitives. Cloud was still unconscious when Zack left him and he went off to face Shin-Ra on his own. It was a long battle that seem to went on forever for the SOLDIER. Eventually, he was 'at the corner' and shot down by his former allies. Before Zack had died, or so he thought, he remember giving Cloud his sword and asking him to carry on his legacy. Everything after that, however, is a blur to him...
He was at the entrance of the slum's market area. The place looked like what he remember before leaving for his mission. It was also the same day that Sephiroth went berserk after finding out what he truly was. Zack could remember that vividly as well. He sighed to himself as he thought to himself, 'This is...not what I expected...' He reached behind him as he felt a handle....His eyes widened as he reached for his own weapon, the Buster Sword. He looked a bit surprise, as he took out the sword from behind to see it. "What the heck?" Zack said with an astonished tone.
'I gave this weapon to Cloud! How could I?...'
This was certainly confusing for the SOLDIER as he pit his sword back and crossed his arms to think. 'How in the world do I still have the sword? I remember giving it to Cloud...' Possibilities were running through his mind, though he couldn't come up with any explanation. He still couldn't find out how he was even here in the first place. He gave up out of frustration as he mumbled, "I think it will be better for me if I don't think about it." Zack figured that he was still alive, some-how, and he was going to enjoy life now.
He shrugged his shoulders as a smile came across his face. He was finally back here in Midgar and that's all that mattered to him. Zack took a deep breath as he looked around the area once more. He looked over to the church's direction as his eyes opened wide a little bit once more. "Oh dang....Aerith!" He almost forgotten about his promise in the midst of his confusion. It has been four years since he had seen her....and who knows how long it has been since he returned to Midgar. He started to run towards the church, hope that Aerith would still be there. However, something crossed his mind as he made his way to the church....
He came to a stop as he was faced with the Church's entrance. Zack looked up and had an uneasy look on his face. The reason he didn't enter the church was because...well he wasn't too sure if he should show his face yet or not. He would love nothing much than see Aerith's expression when she saw him come through the doors, but he also had to think about the possible spying of the Turks....he remembered that Tseng mentioned that Shin-Ra was watching her because she was, apparently, one of a kind. What Tseng meant by that, Zack couldn't remember: But he was worried that if he showed himself to Aerith, he would also expose himself to be revealed as still alive. The last thing that Zack wanted to do was fight again, much less die....
"Ah, what the heck. What's the worse that can happen?" Zack said to himself, keeping that optimistic mind. Zack was opening the doors as he said, "Hello? Anyone home?"

Zack would be disappointed. Aerith was not inside the church...Oh she was back in Midgar....At Tifa's bar.....7TH Heaven.....She had her a new bed room room set up there.....Cloud and Tifa were determined to keep Aerith hidden....And safe...From Sephiroth. Because Cloud knew that Sephiroth would do anything to kill Aerith again....
Aerith herself looks out her bed room window....It was a sunny day....But not in her own eyes....There was fear and sadness....She was still wearing the red ribbon that Zack bought her before she died....She promised him after all to never take it off....
Tears fell from her eyes again....Damn it....She was crying again....She missed Zack with all her heart....Was he ok? She too didn't really remember what she said or did while being in the Life Stream.....All those memories faded the moment she stepped through that gate way or portal....Tifa's father wanted her to go back to live again....And protect Tifa...And Aerith promised.....But....before that there was nothing....Nothing but blankness.....
"Zack.....Come to me please....."

Cloud sighed as that memory never left his mind....He was doing the very thing that Tifa wanted....He was searching for Zack that day.....
"Zack...Where are you?....."
The memories were sealed....And no one could take from Cloud...Not even Sephiroth.....Cloud needed his friend....With Sephiroth back....Cloud needed help....A lot of help in fact.....He wondered to himself if any other of his friends knew of the Nightmare returning.....? Right now all Cloud cared about was finding the one man that made sure Cloud stayed a live......Cloud found himself back at the church.....He searched every where....He was ready to give up....That was one place he stayed in his past when he was a lone....He felt safe....Well, now days, it's not safe any where in Midgar.....With ShinRa falling....It was impossible....This whole area was dangerous....Laws were being broken....Because there were no Turks around to keep the peace.....
Cloud finally sat down in one of the pews of the church was not destroyed......Cloud felt a tear fall from his eye.....He was a lone again.....

[Yay, I'm back ^_^]
As Zack opened the door, he was surprised to see the state the church was in. His eyes widened as his jaw dropped slightly. 'What happened to this place?' He thought as he scanned the area. It looked like a twister had hit this area....or perhaps a fight? That seem more reasonable, though it worried Zack even more. If this church was indeed attacked, then where was Aerith staying at now? Who were the people that fought in this building? And was Aerith alright? All these questions ran through the SOLDIER's mind, until he spotted someone inside the church.
"Huh?" He mumbled quietly. It was quite obvious to him that it wasn't Aerith, but that left the question who this person was. His eyebrow cocked a little bit as he slowly approached the person, not trying to be detected. As he came closer and closer, he started to realize something. 'Hmmmm....I've seen that hair before...but who?...' Zack's memories were slightly hazy at the moment. But as he came closer to the person, his memories quickly returned. He was no more than a few feet away from the person, when he finally realize the spiky hair person.
A mix of joy and surprise came to Zack as he had a smile on his face. He said, "Cloud? Is that you?"

"Cloud? Is that you?"
"Great....I'm hearing voices again....Snap out of it Cloud..."
Cloud looked up...From where he was sitting....That image in his eyes looked so real....Was it really him? After searching endlessly.....Has he finally found Zack? Or has Zack found him?
"Z...Zack?"
You could only imagine what was going on in Cloud's mind now....As he saw his suppose to be dead friend.....

Zack couldn't believe his eyes as well. Here was Cloud, whom he saw as a infantry man before he....disappeared, now wearing a SOLDIER uniform. Or maybe it was the same uniform that he gave to him while they were escaping from Nibelheim....Either way, it was quite odd to see Cloud still wearing the same uniform. What else was weird was that Cloud looked different to him, though Zack couldn't put his finger on it. Maybe he was more....mature? Zack didn't thought about it much, though, since he was seeing an old friend once more.
Zack simply smiled at Cloud's question with a nod of his head. He remained optimistic as he ever did. "Surprised, right?" Zack said before he went on. "It looks like you joined SOLDIER after all." Zack was still unaware of the situation that happened over the years: As far as he was concerned, Shin-Ra was still a major company that still had their SOLDIERs. Speaking of which, he started to remember his friends that were there, such as Krunsel. He wondered if him, or any other SOLDIER members were still there....
He shook his head as he went back to the current present. He came to a pause as he looked around the area once more. "This place looks....different...." He mumbled. Zack Fair then saw where the flowers were....or use to be at. His sights were straight on where the pond was now where the flowers use to be. "What happened to the flowers?" Zack quickly turned back to Cloud, as if he knew what happened. "Those flowers were important to Aerith..." Zack was a little bit worried: From where he remembered, flowers only grew in this church and Aerith's house....where ever that may be. 'So much for our plan,' Zack thought as he crossed his arms.
Then, something clicked in the SOLDIER's head. "Oh!" Zack exclaimed as he focused back on Cloud. "Do you know who Aerith is? If so, do you know where she is? What happened to Shin-Ra and SOLDIER? Are the Turks still around? And what happened to the church?" All of these questions sort of burst out of Zack, since he tried to catch up with everything that has happened during his time away.

Cloud nodded in disbelief......
"It looks like you joined SOLDIER after all."
"Uh..." What could he tell Zack? That he hadn't made it.....?
"This place looks....different...."
"What happened to the flowers?"

Cloud looked down....They were....But Tifa was helping Aerith plant them all over Midgar.....
"Do you know who Aerith is? If so, do you know where she is? What happened to Shin-Ra and SOLDIER? Are the Turks still around? And what happened to the church?"
"It has fallen Zack. As for you remark about me and making Solider....I never made it....This is not the usual Soldier uniform....Tifa helped me piece it together.....Look to your left....There are a few flowers left and well...There....Is your sword....Free from rust....I cleaned it and placed it here....Figured it would be safer here....As for Aerith....She is here...But not here, here....She is at the bar where I live with Tifa and the kids....Two orphans to be exact.....Alot has happened since your death....And Zack this might shock you slightly....But there is one more important piece of information you'll need to know....Sephiroth is back...."
Cloud was not explainning all this too well....But he tried his best....He was still in shock that he finally found the one man that Aerith has been looking for since she's been back.....
"Come on....There is some one that needs you right now....."

Zack was a little bit confused when Cloud mentioned that it has fallen at first. But then, he realized that it was the answer to his Shin-Ra and SOLDIER question. It sort of shocked him. Shin-Ra, he believed, was the strongest company to exist and was the last one to have fallen. He could sort of understand why SOLDIER would fall, however. Before he left to the...'incident', SOLDIER was in shambles and still trying to get a new leader after Lazard went missing. 'I guess they didn't get a new leader...' Zack thought, slightly disappointed. That meant that everyone he knew in SOLDIER had gone their separate ways and probably not in Midgar anymore. "I see...." Zack uttered as his head tilted down-wards.
He looked up to face Cloud when he mentioned about not making into SOLDIER. That also came to a surpise to Zack. Cloud's uniform did have an appearance of a SOLDIER uniform, so he automatically assumed that he made it. Despite that, Zack wouldn't hold it against Cloud for not making it into SOLDIER: Whatever Cloud trained in, it seem like it turned him into a SOLDIER like fighter, and that was enough. Zack turned around and saw Angeal's Sword, the Buster Sword, near where Aerith's use to be at. He stared at the sword for as long as he could before he heard the name Aerith.
She was here....well, not in the church, but around the area. It felt like a burdened had lifted from his shoulders, now that he knew that Aerith was alright. The name Tifa rung a bell in Zack's mind, the name sounding familiar. He was trying to remember where he heard the name before, until Cloud mentioned something about kids. "Woah, I didn't think-" Zack stopped himself when Cloud said that the kids were orphans. "Oh, right," Zack said with a sheepish smile on his face. When Cloud mentioned about kids, Zack assumed that he had become a father or something....need-less to say, he was slight embarrass.
His smile disappeared when Cloud mentioned that Sephiroth has returned. Zack also assumed that Cloud killed him, since he was the one that came out of the door from Jenova's room. Then again, it could of been an incident like he assumed Genesis was killed the first time....He still remained clueless about the events that happened over the years after his death. Those memories crawled back into the back of his head as he remembered the burning village and Sephiroth becoming insane.
"Well...." Zack said, as he paused. "If he comes near us, we'll be able to beat him. So there's no need to sound so gloomy about it." He smiled again as his optmistic mind came back. Then Cloud said that someone needs him right now. He assumed who it was as he asked, with a sort of excited tone in his voice, "Aerith?"

Aerith had no idea that Cloud has found Zack. She was still laying in her bed with the sheets draped over her body....She was embarssed to let any one see her cry like this....She was crying because she was on the verge of giving up....Even she and Tifa went to look for Zack and they found nothing.....Aerith's tears rolled down her face. She was in a lot of pain...She was happy that Tifa and Cloud were finally together. But she was still all alone....Her heart ached....Ached to see his face....To hear that voice....To see that smile....To feel his strong arms around her.....
"I guess there is nothing to love any more...." She said that to herself....But she was trying to remain here as Cloud had asked....Cloud was suppose to call her and let her know that he found him.....

Cloud smiled....Clouds whole attitude changed on the flip of a dime....Especially with what Zack said next.....
"Well...."

No wonder Cloud missed Zack so much....Cloud gave him another smile along with a nod.....Zack would also notice some thing about Cloud was different....Would Zack be able to see that there was more love there in Cloud than in the past? It was because of Tifa...He found his girl now.....
"Always the cherry Zack I've known in the past....
"Aerith?"
"Yeah...Aerith...She's been depressed....Without you. Man will she have a good day....Oh hold on...Let me call her....I bought her a cell....So we could all keep in touch....You'd better get one as well....."
Cloud pulled out his cell phone....And dialed Aerith's phone....And waited....Cloud was a lot happier now....Any one could see it....His best friend was back.....And with Zack there was nothing that couldn't be done.....

Zack smiled widely when Cloud answered his question. It did surprise him that Aerith had been depressed without him. 'Hmmmm.....I suppose I can't blame her for that...' Zack thought as he crossed his arms. He had only seen Aerith's 'cheerful' side while he was with her. It did make him wonder how much Aerith had changed over the four plus years he was dead. The mystery of how he was revived crossed back into his mind, though he didn't too hard on it after knowing that he was going to be with Aerith again.
"A phone? I have that..." Zack was reaching into his pockets as he said that. He didn't finish his sentence as a puzzled look came across his face. "Huh?" He began searching in his other pockets and even checking the back pockets. "I don't have my phone with me...." Zack always had his cell phone close to him and it baffled him....then he realized something. "Right....I must of left my phone back...where ever I came from....Oh! Hold on a second, Cloud."
"I got an idea," He said with a smile. "I think it would be a better surprise for Aerith if I came into the place first, instead of calling her. Are you up for it?"

Cloud looked up and stopped the phone dialing when he said that and flipped his phone shut....
"Sure! I'm up to seeing how she'll react! This will be fun for all of us....Come on buddy. Oh one more thing, we better get you out of those soldier clothes.....I don't think people of Midgar would appricate seeing a soldier.....Since well, Shinra's down fall...This so werid though.....History kind repeating itself...except this time....I'm here for you....Come on....."
Cloud led him out of the church. 7Th Heaven was not too far away....And Cloud was eager to see that smile appear on Aerith's face again......
