Paine arrived in the dismal town. She was clad in her gunner outfit, keeping her weapon concealed, but close to her hand so she could be ready at any moment. Surveying the old dreary houses and the ragged inhabitants she cringed, Why did I even come here, I probably won’t find a sphere, make money or even anyone interesting. I doubt I could even trust any of these people. Still she trudged on, remembering the rumours of vast treasure and riches that could await her.
She passed a rancid alley, which stunk of old garbage and dead animals. She held her breath, not wanting to succumb to the vicious odor and puke. This place is positively raunchy. Girard better not have lied to me about the fortune here or I’m gonna hurt him. She slowly sauntered through the dilapidated streets of Port Royal, nervously clutching her hidden gun the whole way.
Without warning, a drunk disheveled man appeared from another, equally putrid, alleyway and limped his way over to Paine with a crazy look in his eyes and a creepy smile on his face. He looked her up and down, clearly checking her out. Eww… What does this creeper want? she thought, images came to her mind and she nearly vomited on the spot.
He finally spoke; his voice was grating, a thick English accent, slurred by many drinks, “Hey baby, how’s bout yous an’ meez have ar selves a goo’time. How much?” She was horrified, this disgusting and dirty man was hitting on her, but not only that he thought she was a streetwalker! She couldn’t imagine the response the lady luck dressphere would get her. I’d be eaten alive by the drunk, horny rabble of this scary town. The thought made her sick to her stomach.
“No,” she said, an even tone in her voice hid her feelings of repulsion. She resumed walking but the drunkard wouldn’t leave her alone.
“Come on, baby, I got a nice place and pay very well.” His persistence shredded her patience.
“First of all, the answer will always be no. Second, I am not what you, clearly, think I am. Thirdly, ask again and I will hurt you.” she replied, the flames of anger barely concealed by her calm voice. She put her hand on the trigger of her gun but still kept it hidden. No need to make a scene.
The foul male kept on pursuing Paine; he wouldn’t take no for an answer. Look, I did’n wanna do dis but, I’m an officer of the navy, an’ I’ll arrest you if you don’t comply, so let’s go okay?” Paine had had it with this irritating naval officer. She brandished her gun, pointing it straight at him. Her finger tensed on the trigger, waiting to fire. He was unfazed, and continued his advancement towards her.
“Don’t think I won’t fire.” She smiled as he got within arms length of her. She felt the click of the trigger and the recoil course up her arm as the gun discharged, the bullet careened into the man’s shoulder. He was knocked back, but the wound was not fatal.
“Say, where’s a pretty lil’ gal like you get a gun from? Yous a pirate?” he asked, drawing his gun, which was an older model blunderbuss. A pirate? Where the hell am I?
“That’s for me to know and for you to never find out.” She grinned smugly as she pulled out the other gun; wielding them both she used a Trigger Happy cartridge in each one. She pulled the triggers and bullets poured out, covering him with little holes. His lifeless body slumped to the ground, and Paine realized what she had done. She cursed loudly and dragged the drunkard’s body into the acrid alleyway. She covered him with heaps of trash and quickly hid her guns. She dashed out of the narrow corridor, hoping no one had seen what just transpired.

Some how Lightning again ended up in a strange world instead of back home. What was wrong she wondered with a sighed. "Maybe I have to find better means of transportation." she muttered to herself taking a step into the small town.
Lightning took a look around the world she was in. this was even worse than the first one Destiny Island. and now she was stuck there. She sighed yet again shaking her head as she started to walk. Maybe if she was lucky she would find a good ship she could fly home.
"Hold it right there your coming with us girl"
Lightning did stop but only to turn around to find a couple of pirates standing behind her. It seemed that they just landed and were taking prisoners on their ship. "Ow..." She said fully turning to face them "And why should I do anything you say?"
Lightning didn't have time for this to play with pirate wannabes. never the less if they stepped in her way she would have to deal with them but maybe she can do it quick.
"Do you know who your talking to girl better do what I say or I'll..."
"Or you will what?" Lightning interrupted him giving the captain a cold stare as she reached for her gunblade and pointed it at him. "I already told you I take orders from no one. Now leave before I change my mind"
He just laughed with his crew at Lightnings threat "A girl like you what can you possibly do against pirates like us. little girls shouldn't play with weapons or they will get hurt."
That settle things, the only way out of this was fighting. "Seems like warnings mean nothing in this world... fine if you wont leave then I will just have to make you" She said pointing the sword at the captain and soon charged at full speed and with one swing she was able to send his sword flying out of his hands and threw him to the floor. "Like I said stay out of my way." And without a word she continued on he path.

She rushed hurriedly down the street, looking for somewhere to go. I can’t believe I just killed him. Stupid…Stupid….Stupid! She sighed heavily as she stopped to catch her breath. Paine wondered what the laws were in this crazy world. Would she be arrested? Executed? The gunner stared up into the night sky, looking at all of the stars and the full moon. It’s so beautiful. Then the unpleasant smell of low tide wafted through the town. Nevermind.
Paine was still alone in the cold night, no more unwelcome strangers propositioning her. She read a piece of slightly faded parchment, loosely tacked on a wall. It said, “Need a ship? Join Cap’n Barnaby’s! Find him at the Red Rocks Pub. Get ready to live a pirate’s life!” Oh Yevon, that drunkard wasn’t kidding when he said there were pirates here. She wasn’t too worried though, she defeated Vegnagun, she could take a few pirates.
She started walking again, and heard some commotion, which sounded like a sword fight. She kept going, the pace of her stride increasing, eager to see what happened. She passed a few broken down houses, and more reeking alleyways. The skirmish sounded like it was stopped with a big thud, as if someone had been thrown to the ground. Pirates? More drunk ‘naval officers?’
She saw the scene, two pirates, both knocked on their butts, a strawberry blonde girl strolling away, unharmed. She walked straight toward Paine, and the gunner decided to speak to the young woman, thinking that they were in the same situation.
"Uhh…hi?" she said hesitantly. Paine never was a people person after all; her conversational skills weren’t the best. Ugh, that was pathetic. She just stood there, awaiting the mysterious girl’s reply.

Lightning sighed as she shielded her sword again and started walking away from the pirates. Then she saw her, a girl with short silver hair and a large sword rested on her back. If anything Lightning would say that this one was a warrior and was on a different scale from the pirates she fought before.
She was surprised once the girl approached her. "Um…" She crossed her arms as she looked at the one in front of her. Lightning wasn’t one with words. In fact she rarely talked with anyone and always kept to herself. Still she was curious as to why the girl approached her maybe they both were in the same situation as this didn’t seem to be her world either. "Hi…" she simply replied back.

“Umm… Hi.” Was what the girl, who was as good at conversation as Paine was, said. Paine deliberated to what to say next.
Paine sized this girl up while she was trying to think of what to say. She noticed that she looked to be around the same age as Paine, and had a sword, sheathed behind her. She was also too clean to be part of this place, maybe she was also from a different world. A few more excruciating moments of silence passed by, neither girl seemed to know what to say to the other.
Finally, inspiration struck Paine. She went on to ask the girl, “So uhh, do you have any idea where we are? Because you look like you don’t belong here.” She awaited the girls reply, hoping that she could shed the light on Paine’s situation, as well as her own.

Lightning was right, that girl was from another world. "I don't know..." she said letting her hands drop to either side as she took a step back and glanced around. "A world of pirates... that's all I can tell" She said turning to face the girl again.
Now an idea came to mind. Seeing as they were both stuck there on a world they wished to leave maybe they could help each other. Or maybe that girl had a way to leave much better than Lightning's. "So your not from around here either... I am searching for a way off this world. What about you?"

“I don’t know.” was the girl’s reply. Paine was a little disheartened by the fact that she had no idea either. “A world full of pirates, that’s all I can tell.” She added on, Paine was baffled by this, surely the age of Pirates was over but this place seemed frozen in that time period.
“Yeah, I’ll say.” She said, after all she had seen that sign. Paine wondered if the girl knew anything else about this place, perhaps where the Isle de Muerta, the place that Girard from the pub told her about, is. The girl started to speak again.
“So you’re not from around here either, I am searching for a way off this world, ho about you?” She said. Paine had just realized that she, herself, had no way off of this place, as she hitch hiked a ride from a Hypello and they crashed here.
“Yeah, I am. I’m also looking for an island called the Isle de Meurta, it’s supposed to have something on it that I need, and might have a way home too, or at least that’s what Girard told me.” she replied and then added, “I’m Paine, you are?”

"Isle de Meurta" Lightning muttered thinking about what Paine just said. She really didn't care for what lied on that island other than finding a way to return to her home world. "I am Lightning..." She said turning her attention back to Paine.
"I may not know where this island is but I am sure they do..." She said pointing to the pirates behind her. They were from that world so they were sure to know where Isle de Meurta was. At least that's what Lightning thought.

“I am Lightning.” The mysterious girl said. Interesting name. An alias? She wondered how this girl got here, and what she was really about. She quickly stopped these ponderings. Gotta focus!
“I may not know where this island is, but I am sure they do,” Lightning added, motioning toward the pirates behind her, probably the ones that she heard squabbling earlier. Paine walked towards them, a smirk donned her face.
“Time for a little interrogation then?” she said while cracking her knuckles. This should be fun.

Lightning turned to look at the pirates and at Paine as she walked over to them. She crossed her arms again as she shifted her weight from side to side and grinned.
She wondered what those pirates would do. Would they try and fight Paine as they did with her or will they plead for mercy and give them the information they needed. "Hm..." She soon walked over to them with one hand stretched to her gunblade.

As she approached the battered pirates, the captain rose to his feet, but the other two stayed down, clearly afraid. She smiled slightly and asked, “Hello there, I need to go to the Isle de Meurta. Where is it?” The other two pirates said nothing, but the captain laughed. “Why should we tell you anything, lass? We’re not afraid of you.” he said arrogantly. She smiled again and got a little closer.
“Really? Doesn’t look like it.” she said, pointing toward his henchmen. The captain reached for his sword, but before he could unsheathe it, Paine fired a shot, piercing his hand. “Tell me where it is, unless you want to die.” she said, with a bittersweet tone in her voice. Still holding her gun, she waited for the captain’s response.

Lightning smirked once she saw the fear in the pirates eyes. "Hm are you sure your not afraid because your eyes say otherwise" She said glancing down at him as she stood next to Paine.
"I will make it easier for you give us a map to the island and your ship... if not then your life ends tonight." She paused and glanced at Paine for a second. "What do you think... sounds like a good deal right? A map and a ship for their lives."

She saw her new found companion, Lightning, walk up next to her and heard her ask, “What do you think... sounds like a good deal right? A map and a ship for their lives.” Paine laughed; this was going to be even easier than she anticipated. Although, she did wonder for a moment, why Lightning suddenly wanted to help her, but she was happy for it.
“I think it’s an unfair bargain, I mean a map and a ship is worth far more than their lives, but I guess they’ll have to take it. Right guys?” she asked the pirates with a grin, still brandishing her gun.

"Maybe your right but I don’t think they have any objections to this…" Lightning said turning again to look at the pirates. "Well do you?" She asked unleashing her gunblade and pointing it at the captains throat. "There is no way out of this better take this offer" she added pressing her sword at his throat slightly.
"A… alright you can have the ship and the map"
"Glad you agreed" Lightning said shielding her sword again. She was searching for a way home and thought that maybe she can find something that would help her on that island. The second reason was because she had nothing better to do.
