>>mature;; While Hope is only fourteen years old, he grew up fast in many aspects in his childhood. Being the only child in a one-parent family, Hope learned to take care of himself. He can be independent when he wants to be and could survive on his own. All in all, Hope is usually a very serious young man.
>>insecure;; Like he lacks faith in Villers, Hope lacks confidence in himself. He does not believe himself to be very strong despite being chosen by the I’Cie. He is easily frightened and often runs from battle whether it be other people, cie corpses, or beasts. Due to his childish nature, he can, on occasion, get over his feeling of being unsafe and lacking self-confidence. He has the spirit and power and will to become as strong as those he travels with both physically and mentally. The process will, however, be slow, lest it’s jumpstarted.
>>temper;; Hope has a very short temper. He can get mad over the littlest things, a trait he acquired after the death of his mother. Still bitter and morning over her death even now, the smallest irritation can set him off. His short temper is twice as short when it comes to Snow Villiers. Nothing Villiers can do is good enough for Hope and they both know it.

History:Hope was born in the Cocoon that rests above Pulse. He grew up with only his mother, his father having died when he was too young to remember his face. Because of this, he became one of those little boys that believe they must protect their mother because she cannot do it herself. He thought himself to be the man of the family and had to take care of things his mother was not supposed to. Due to that, he had to make sure his mother was always comforted and any stress was gotten rid of. He grew up quickly in many aspects because of his love and loyalty. His mother was his entire world.
He was only eight-years-old when he and his mother were accused of being contaminated by Pulse in what the government dubbed “Purge.” The punishment for such a sin was banishment to the very place that had dirtied them, to the untamed face of Pulse. Thought young, Hope had heard millions of stories about the planet beneath Cocoon. It was the thing of horror stories, the very place sure to scare anyone. Due to which, the majority of what he’d heard were half-truths, but he knew that he could not allow his mother to be sent there. His lies and pleas that he was the only one corrupted to protect his beloved mother were drowned out by the anger accusations of the Holy Government.
All his efforts were for naught. While his mother stroked his hair and dried his tears, Hope felt the crushing weight of defeat. It seemed inevitable that he and his mother would be banished to Pulse. The luck that came was only named as such for a short time. Hope and his mother were among a small group of people rescued by Team Nora. Hope could not stop his mother from joining the resistance that had saved them. The very resistance that resulted in her death. During a battle, Hope’s mother sacrificed herself to protect Snow Villiers.
The blow to Hope was catastrophic. He almost died from his lack of will to survive after receiving the news. It was Oerba Dia Vanille that comforted him. Under her guidance Hope realized that his mother would suffer more to know that he had died as well. Even if it meant prolonging seeing her, he had to live and do something to make her proud. Yet, while he saw it as honorable on her part, Hope did not find it at all necessary. He blamed Snow Villiers for his mother’s death. Hope blamed him for involving her in the war, than not being able to protect her. He had killed Hope’s mother.
Now cursed like the other’s as an I’Cie, he travels with Lightening and Vanille and their companions. Both luckily and unluckily, Villiers is among their group. While he openly hates him, underneath Hope is searching feverishly for a way to seek revenge on Villiers for killing his mother.
